The workshop takes place on December 13th and 14th (Friday and Saturday), from 2 pm to 6 pm , in the second edition of the Kebrada Festival. Erick will share with attendees his experiences as a Turntablism DJ – the art of manipulating sounds and creating music using turntables and a DJ mixer – and will introduce you to the basic timing and mixing techniques that make him mastery to transform a simple noise, voice or beat in music. Participants will be able to enrich their musical repertoire, creating innovative sets and various styles of scratches, beat constructions, Back to back, collages, Beat Jungling, Drumming, Breakdown. It will also cover DJing techniques: equalization, mixing and BPM adjustment. The workshop is ideal for DJs who want to make a difference and not only mix in their presentations, but enrich their show with performance techniques. It is necessary to have basic knowledge of mixing or already work in the area. He will also talk about the preparation for national and international championships. Erick Jay competed with DJ’s from the inner world and won the DMC World, the biggest and most prestigious DJ’s championship on the planet, and the Ida World Battle, in 2016, becoming the first DJ in Latin America to win an international title. This year it won the DMC ON LINE. For three consecutive years (2006 to 2008) he was considered the best DJ in Latin America. He has 14 titles in national championships. In 2012, he was nominated for the Global Spin Awards (United States), a kind of Grammy for DJ’s, in the South America category. He has toured France, Germany, Czech Republic and England. He worked with the rap groups Pregador Luo, Dexter and Xis. He is currently a DJ for rapper Kamau and Black Alien. Since 2008, he has been a DJ for TVCultura’s Manos e Minas program. He is a performance DJ, who combines speed, creativity and mastery of the track. His sound is influenced by Marvin Gaye, Tim Maia, James Brown and Michael Jackson.
