06 October 2023 to 19:00

The short film Taquariana – a Brazilian cabocla tells the story of the party commemorating the anniversary of the Taquarian cabocla, held 22 years ago in the Vila dos Nobres neighborhood, in São Luís, in the Coroadinho hub region.

The festival held by D. Matildes, known as Dona Flor, is a Healing Drum, a type of ritual specific to Umbanda, which takes place every third Saturday of the month of October, with the help of at least three terreiros in the region.

The Healing Drum has an approximate duration of 10 hours of play, where the sung doctrines exalt the caboclos of the forest, of the crossroads, of the waters, of the earth, and has a great community movement in its realization.

It is directed by Abimaelson Santos, theater professor at UFMA, theater director and curator, who is making his debut in audiovisual direction. Director of photography is Pablo Monteiro.

After the premiere, a Crioula Filhas de São Benedito Drum from the collective Casa das Pretas will be held.
