Starting this Friday, the 17th, at 16:00, the Vale Maranhão Cultural Center will virtually broadcast the Dance Here Show, with the 7 video dances approved in the homonymous public notice launched last year. The productions permeate various dance styles – contemporary, Afro dances and urban dances – bringing current topics, such as religious diversity, ancestry, queer art, among others.
To open the exhibition, the video dance ES-CADA was chosen, by the dancer and choreographer Kleverson Froz from Maranhão, who has already joined the company of the Niterói City Ballet (RJ). In the video dance, Kleverson explores the architectural landscape of São Luís, against the backdrop of one of the city’s best-known staircases, that of the Capela de São Pedro, the setting for the traditional walk of the Bumba Meu Boi groups on June 29, where players pay promises to the saint. The dancer reflects on the framing of bodies and individuals in social patterns, making a metaphor with the geometry of the stairs and creating autonomy over imposed forms.
Every Friday a new video will premiere on the institution’s YouTube channel (youtube.com/centroculturalvalemaranhao) and on Instagram (@centroculturalvalemaranhao).
