8/11

Languid, with Dudu Gehlen, at 19:00

Under the Face of Cazumba, by Lara Moura, at 19:20

Underneath Cazumba’s mask is salt water; it’s weeping and sweating. The salt that cleans the yard is the same as salting that crumb body. In every enchantment that surrounds the creature Cazumba, there is memory and affection in every sense of the person who moves it; in sight, in listening, in touch, in aromas and flavors. The scene is an experience that allows us to delve into the sensations that the ‘human body’ feels behind what is aesthetically imprinted on the ‘Cazumba body’.

Fury of Medeias, by Sofia Cartágenes and Mateus Max, at 19:40

The archetype of the vindictive woman has always been viewed as hateful. In the scene, anger is exalted as a symbol of freedom and the breaking of the stereotype of kind and meek women, who remain virtuous traits over time. Combining “Medeia” by Eurípedes and the text “Gota D’Água” by Chico Buarque and Paulo Pontes, the scene proposes a reflection on women’s rights and the reality of the Middle Ages of today.

9/11

Body Time, by Caio Quimera, at 19:00

Articulated with the attitude of readiness to step, look and breathe, the body unveils its own path of self-knowledge, assuming its essence and resistance in the face of a system that already imposes its territorialities. How long will generations live with the burden of non-belonging? Until when will bodies/bodies be erased? In the movement of history a dead body/body is more acclaimed than a living body.

Diving into Mystery, Digging Spaces, Cracking the Stone: a scenic disassembly based on the voice, by Thiberio Azevedo, at 19:20

An investigation of the formation of a stage artist, taking into account the invention of the self based on the recognition of the voices that cross a political-poetic body. Rediscovering and approaching the writings of Valere Novarina and Ana Kfouri, the artist creates an investigative territory for the experimentation of vocal work and the word on stage, in search of a poetics of the enchanted voice.

10/11

Brutus Sonnet, by Wiliam Euller, at 19:00

How many erasures are there in a daily routine? What burns you? Gasoline in whom? In a state of urgency, the artist disposes his body and brings internal everyday cries to the scene, instigating spectators to visit their personal memories and every time they were burned and erased.

Insatiable, by Gael Cardoso and Tamia Machado, at 19:20

A clothed mannequin. Around them, model magazines within a “standard” of society and various garments of an “ideal” size. A body enters the space and is willing to wear those pieces. How much is it worth and how much can one injure one’s own body to achieve unrealistic measures?

18/11

Árvore Mangueira, from the group Open Scene, at 16:00

The biggest tree in the backyard, Mangueira, hears the secrets of a girl full of dreams. One night, counting the stars, the girl falls asleep, flies over the top of the houses and sees a girl with a fiery skirt and the head of an ox. Did the creature scare her?

PERFORMANCES

14/11, at 19:00

Argila, by Áurea Maranhão

The performance delves into the depths of bodies and seeks to find the silence, time, and power that inhabit this space, using dramaturgical resources to explore the connection with the body, ancestry, and empathy through mirror neurons, an important discovery in neuroscience. Based on the book “Sonho Manifesto” by Sidarta Ribeiro, “Argila” proposes an engaging journey using clay as a visceral tool for recovering listening, using the performer’s body as a platform to transmit sensations and images to the public.

November 16, at 19:00

Fireball, by Fábio Osório Monteiro

“Fireball” is a performance that inaugurates a new moment in the performer’s career, who also starts acting as a Bahian from Acarajé. The work relates the fact that Osório is an artist active on the contemporary scene, having worked with important Brazilian and international artists, and his need for sustenance in the face of the instability of current times.

SHOWS

11/11, at 19:00

What a stain, by Beatriz Sano and Eduardo Fukushima

The play reverberates the intertwined relationship between voice and movement, destabilizing notions of duality, tarnishing the boundaries between bodies. In this vibration, the bodies become confused, producing a possible communication that transforms into laughter, crying, noise, melody, conversation, noise, and silence.

November 17, at 8 pm, at the Arthur Azevedo Theater

Without Words, by Companhia Brasileira de Teatro

Winner of the APTR (Association of Theater Producers) and Shell Theater 2023 awards for best dramaturgy, “Without Words” captures the movements and crossings that take place during a day around an apartment. Eight people from different bodies, social images, references and life stories pass by and are the basis for reflections on the word and also its absence, since the show focuses on visualities that communicate to the public without the use of textual language. They are multiple personalities that may (or may not) inhabit the same space, the same body. The show, with text and direction by Marcio Abreu, has its dramaturgy thought of as a book of individual chronicles, in which the characters dialogue with urgent issues of reality, revealing their transitions and transformations.
