CCVM Open Patio receives the Creole Drum from the house Fanti Ashanti

07 April 2022 to 19:00

This Thursday, April 7, at 7 pm, the Vale Maranhão Cultural Center welcomes in its Open Patio the Taboca Abanijeun Creole Drum, from the house Fanti Ashanti.

Created in the year 2000, the group uses five small drums made of tobacco or bamboo, punched with their hands and beaten to the ground, producing sounds that resemble the musicality of the team. With a CD recorded with its own plays, the group has more than twenty years of resistance and preservation of popular culture.

Casa Fanti Ashanti is a Tambor de Mina yard founded on January 1, 1954 by Father Euclides Talabyan, and remains active to the present day with religious and cultural activities, such as Tambor de Crioula, Tambor de Mina, Bumba Meu Boi with an accent from the Baixada, Samba Angola, Festa do Divino and the Crioula Drum of Taboca.

The CCVM is located at Avenida Henrique Leal, 149, Centro Histórico. Admission is free.
