The Vale Maranhão Cultural Center shows this Friday, 06, at 7pm, the show Canto dos Recidados – Afrobaroque in a musical lecture, by Bahia musician Mateus Aleluia, which seeks to raise awareness of the public to a conscious approach to the history of the diasporas, addressing religious syncretism and indigenous cultures, Baroque and African in Brazil.
The musical performance is interspersed with narratives about the history of the African continent, the arrival of blacks to the country and the contact between cultures. “Understanding art as an agent of existential and social transformation, we believe it is fundamental to bring visibility to the various narratives that make up the world that surrounds us and on which we act in a continuous construction of the future,” says Matthew.
Mateus Aleluia is a Bahian composer, singer and instrumentalist, remnant of the historic vocal group “The Tincoãs”, which brought to popular music in the 1960s the rhythms of the Candomblé Terreiros.
The Canto dos Recuados – Afrobaroque project in a musical lecture was one of the selected ones in the Ocupa CCVM 2020/2021 notice to compose the institution’s annual program. To watch, simply access the CCVM channel on Youtube
