Tarcisio Selektah and Doctor Reggae, two of Maranhão’s leading reggae DJs, will host the presentation Sound System and Radiolas: An Encounter of Cultures, in the Open Courtyard of the Vale Maranhão Cultural Center, on Thursday, May 9, at 19:00.
The event brings forward the celebrations for National Reggae Day – celebrated on May 11 – and will include an exchange of experiences and knowledge, covering 50 years of reggae history in Maranhão: from the beginning of the rhythm on a Caribbean island to the arrival on the island of São Luís with the pioneering speakers Carne Seca and Riba Macedo. In addition to a lot of music, the DJs promise projections, excerpts from movies and a chat with the audience present.
The CCVM is located at Rua Direita, 149, São Luís Historic Center. The programming is free.
