Festival Kebrada 2020 Open Enrollment for the workshop Rap na Ilha Rebelde: From Spontaneism to the Era of Battles/Cypher Rima , with Ailton Penha (Mano Magrão) (MA), on December 14 and 15, from 5 pm to 6:30 pm. The proposal is to rescue the history of Hip Hop on the Island of São Luís (MA), promoting reflections and identifying the African heritages in the constitution of Rap and the transformations of Hip Hop in Maranhão. Didactic resources such as films, video clips, song lyrics and books dealing with Hip Hop culture will be used. The art of rhyming will be stimulated and developed, having as the final product of the meeting, a Cypher, in which the theme of the rhymes will be the history of Hip Hop in São Luís. Mano Magrão is MC, Professor of History and Master in Social History (UFMA ). Since graduation, he has researched Hip Hop in Maranhão, especially rap and its relationship with ethnic-racial, class and territorial issues. A resident of the outskirts of São Luís, he had contact with Hip Hop culture in the late 1990s. As an artist, his sung poetry deals with current themes related to the daily life of peripheral communities. Over nearly two decades of his career, he has performed in several Brazilian states, such as Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Pernambuco.
