Nhe'Porã: Memory and Transformation will feature a guided tour by curator Daiara Tukano

09 November 2024
from 14:00 to 16:00

“Language is thought, language is spirit, language is a way of seeing the world and enjoying life.” This is how curator Daiara Tukano describes the starting point of Nhe’Porã: Memory and Transformation. The immersion begins with the very name of the exhibition, which comes from the Guarani Mbya language: nhe’means spirit, breath, life, word, speech; and porã means beautiful, good. Together, the two words mean “beautiful words”, “good words” – that is, sacred words that give life to the human experience on earth.

This Saturday, 9/11, from 14:00 to 16:00 p.m., we will be pleased to welcome you to the CCVM for a guided tour of the exhibition. Organized by the Museum of the Portuguese Language (SP) under the coordination and master sponsorship of the Vale Cultural Institute, NHE’Porã: Memory and Transformation addresses the languages of the original peoples of Brazil, their trajectories and cultures. In São Luís, the collection includes exclusive pieces from the CCVM collection, the Casa de Nhozinho and the Natural History and Archaeology Research Center of Maranhão.

Daiara Tukano is from the Yepá-Mahsã people, indigenous artist, curator, master in Human Rights and National Cultural Counselor.

The programming is free.
