Sewing Workshop Hand Stitches Collection, with Ofélia Lott (SP) - Registration closed

16 to 20 July 2019

The workshop will teach traditional stitches and hand-sewing techniques that have been researched for a long time by Ofélia, who was initiated into sewing by her grandmother and aunts. Today, she works in what she calls the craft of sewing-art and continues to research ancient techniques, expanding her Hand Stitches Collection and keeping them alive by transmitting them in her well-attended workshops. Stitches can be used in different ways, such as functional technique, as decorative stitches, in up cycling (reuse) and renovations, in utilitarian objects or in textile art. The course program involves hemming techniques, joining of fabrics in different proposals, French sewing, English sewing, cross, inlay, backstitch, turned edge, running stitch, edged edge, buttonhole, mitred corner and many other sewing secrets almost missing. It is not necessary to have specific knowledge, but whoever has mastered sewing can go much further. All learning will be acquired step-by-step during the workshop. Ofélia Lott is self-taught, she improved her studies in modeling, moulage , tailoring and plastic arts, using manual making as a source of research between sewing and memory. It moves between costumes, replicas, restorations, modeling and textile art. The workshop takes place from the 16th to the 20th of this month, from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm. There are 20 vacancies for people over 16 years old. Those interested in participating should send name, telephone number and the desired workshop to contato@ccv-ma.org.br. Free registration.
