Screen printing techniques taught free of charge at the Vale Maranhão Cultural Center

29 September to 01 October 2022

Originated in China around 221 AD, screen printing is a fabric printing technique that uses ink and stencils. Today, due to its fast production and relatively low cost, it is widely used in t-shirts, stickers, ecobags, gifts, etc.

With all these application possibilities, the Vale Maranhão Cultural Center will provide a screen printing workshop, from September 29 to October 1, from 14:00 to 18:00, with classes taught by visual artist and designer Hermano Torres. The technique will be demonstrated through the production of photoliths, the manufacture of the screens and practices in different applications, such as fabric, paper, and packaging.

Hermano Torres has a bachelor’s degree in Design from the Federal University of Maranhão and a certificate in Digital Arts from the City College of San Francisco, in the United States. He has over 10 years of career as a designer and illustrator.

Those interested in the workshop must register in person at the CCVM on the first day of class. The Vale Maranhão Cultural Center is located at Rua Direita, 149, São Luís Historic Center.
