Raquel Rolnik arrives at the CCVM to reflect the city of São Luís

04 July 2025 to 19:00

Raquel Rolnik, architect and urban planner, brings to the Notes for the month of July the theme São Luís: city for whom? , which proposes a critical reflection on the values, conflicts, and disputes that cross social and spatial relations in large Brazilian urban centers, focusing on the capital of Maranhão.

Between colonial mansions, mangroves and modern towers, São Luís is the scene of an intense battle: will the city be able to reinvent its spaces based on aphrodiasporic culture, or will it be engulfed by the logic of financial speculation and inequality?

Rolnik brings up these and other provocations in a necessary debate about belonging, memory, and urban justice.
