The artistic director of Cia. The Puppet Theater Wheel, Olga Gómez, will share her 25-year experience in animation theater through the workshop Origins – Laboratory of Popular Toys, which will be held at the Vale Maranhão Cultural Center, from May 31 to June 4, from 2 pm to 6 pm.
During classes, toys such as pinwheel, kaleidoscope, articulated puppets, acrobats, among others will be built, always using the students’ affective memory for creative collaboration. “Popular toys, despite their apparent simplicity, are precise and intelligent, and maintain an interest in force over time, creating a cultural bond between people. Many of them are found in the collective imagination and activate positive feelings and memories,” explains Olga.
In addition to the practical part, the teacher will present popular objects from her research and private collection, as well as pieces constructed by her, addressing the objects in an analytical and constructive way.
