Pátio Aberto presents: Pungada with the Masters of the Crioula Drum Manto de São Benedito - Presentation and Workshop - Open Inscriptions

The Tambor de Crioula Manto de São Benedito was created by Dona Salu, known for the Divino Espírito Santo festivities and the games of the quilombola community of Porto de Baixo, in Guimarães. Since 1977, it has been coordinated by his granddaughter, Mestra Maria do Coco, the third generation in charge of the game. In 2002, the headquarters moved to São Luís. Maria do Coco is recognized as Master of Popular Culture (Mestre Duda Award/Ministry of Culture, 2017) and Master of the Drum of Crioula (State Government of Maranhão, 2014). The Manto de São Benedito has already performed and held workshops in several states. The workshop takes place at 5 pm and the presentation will be at 7 pm .
