The Vale Maranhão Cultural Center presents this Saturday, 24, at 9pm, the Cantigas show by Dona Roxa Dorneles. The presentation tells the trajectory of the female leadership of the municipality of Centro Grande de Axixá, which since the age of 15 has been a maker of Afro-Maranhão popular culture. Now, at the age of 84, he is responsible for the formation of several generations of artists and cultural leaders from his region.
Dona Roxa will take to the public cantigas de rodas do Serê, traditional Samba Maranhense, crafts songs from Andiroba breakers and popular songs that she learned and composed in these almost 70 years of participation in Afro-Maranhense popular culture.
