Documentary about the culture of Senegal will be screened at the CCVM

11 to 13 November 2021

Celebrating Black Awareness Month, on November 11,12 and 13, the screening of the documentary “The Call of Dance in Senegal” (L’Appel à la Danse au Sénégal), directed by French artist Diane Fardoun, will take place.

In the work, Diane records the preciousness of Senegal’s culture and exhibits cultural expressions, such as the Krump battles that take place in central Dakar, as well as free fights and initiation ceremonies in villages. The film will be available, free of charge, from 19:00 on the 11th until 11:59 on the 13th, and can be watched on our YouTube channel.

And on November 20, at 10 am, Diane Fardoun will participate in a virtual meeting with the public, to share the process of making the documentary and the reflections provoked, going through themes such as ancestry and the search for a positive social perspective on African countries. At the time, Diane will also give tips on how to design an audiovisual work based on dance. To participate, it is necessary to register through the form through the link next to it. It is possible to register until 11/14.

The program is promoted by Teatro Vila Velha and VIVADANÇA International Festival, sponsored by the French Embassy in Brazil and in partnership with the CCVM, Teatro do Parque (PE) and Screenskin.
