Caboclo de Pena - Watch CCVM's first film production online

As of today, at 7 pm, the short film Caboclo de Pena, our first cinematographic production, will be available on our Youtube channel. The film portrays the ballet of 29 caboclos de pena, belonging to eleven oxen with a rattle accent, from four cities in Maranhão. The project debuted in October 2019 and is part of the Choreografias Maranhenses program, which aims to highlight the quality of dance present in the diverse and sophisticated popular culture of Maranhão. In Caboclo de Pena , the protagonists emphasize the freedom of creation for their steps, each one with its own swing and style, without predetermined choreography. In addition to the short film, individual episodes are also available with all the protagonists of the film, telling their stories of devotion to São João and their trajectories as caboclos. At the end of the videos, dance solos complete the record and show the variations created by each one.
