The Vale Maranhão Cultural Center will promote two workshops focused on the universe of popular culture in Maranhão.
On 21 and 22, Tapuia’s hat making workshop will teach the handmade method with fabric, sequins, stones and gallons, made by tapuias themselves. And on the 23rd and 24th, the ballet workshop brings the blend of the slow rhythm of the zabumbas – which refers to the melancholy of the banzo and the sadness of the slaves – with the fast paced tapuias.
The workshops will be taught by members of Bumba Meu Boi da Liberdade, an accent of Zabumba, with a striking African heritage in the touches, costumes and dancers.
To register, simply send an email with name, phone and municipality to contato@ccv-ma.org.br. Classes will always take place at 2 pm, through the Zoom platform.
