Body Territory: Between Brazil and Black Africa - Round 4: The Audiovisual Discourse on Black Dance Production Carmen Luz (RJ), Firmino Pitanga (BA) and João Nascimento (SP) - Open Inscriptions

In the Black and Diversity Month at CCVM , the program Território Corpo: Entre Brasil e África Negra presents the Conversation Wheel 4: The Audiovisual Discourse on Black Dance Production, with Carmen Luz (RJ), Firmino Pitanga (BA) and João Birth (SP), on 12/08, from 7 pm to 9 pm. The wheel proposes to think about what are the perceptions of the Brazilian audiovisual about black manifestations and corporeality and what provokes and characterizes these looks, from the poetics and speeches of guest filmmakers and choreographers. Carmen Luz is a filmmaker, choreographer, curator, audiovisual and scenic artist. Writes and produces documentaries, video art and video dance films. She is a professor at the Darcy Ribeiro Film School and at the Angel Vianna College. She founded and is the artistic director and choreographer of Cia. Étnica de Dança. She was the director of the Choreographic Center of the City of Rio de Janeiro and of the José Bonifácio Cultural Center – Reference Center for Black Culture of the City of Rio de Janeiro. João Nascimento is an artist, researcher of black culture in the diaspora and director of the arts of sonorous and dancing bodies. Documentary filmmaker, he directed, wrote and directed the film Danças Negras, awarded in the SPcine 2019 public notice. He is coordinator of Ponto de Cultura Afrobase, integrates Frente 03 de Fevereiro and is the founding director of Cia.Treme Terra. He was the general and musical direction of several shows, including Pele Negra, White Masks and Anonymity – Orikis ao Mitos Pessoal Disappeared. Firmino Pitanga graduated in Dance (UFBA), joined the Castro Alves Theater Ballet (BA) and is a former member of the UFBA Contemporary Dance Group, with which he represented Brazil at the II FESTAC (Black Arts and Culture Festival Africana), held in Nigeria, in 1977. In 1987, he moved to São Paulo and created the Cia de Dança Negra Batá Kotô. In the last ten years, he has developed a partnership with Cia. Treme Terra, as choreographic director and in the corporal preparation of the cast in several shows and in the documentary Danças Negras.
