Nagô braid workshop designed to value black aesthetics and Afro identity

The workshop Trança Nagô: Afro-Maranhão Identity will bring to the CCVM a careful and appreciative view of the Afro-Maranhão identity through teaching about designed Nagô braids.

Mariama, artist and trancista founder of Na Raiz, a project that works to build the self-esteem of black people through braids, will teach the workshop. Na Raiz was founded in 2018 after Mariama realized that her hobby of braiding could become a source of income by replicating and redefining the process of her ancestors. In her work, she empowers her clients by understanding their needs and reducing their hair trauma and insecurities.

Are you interested? Registrations are made in person on the 1st day of class, 1 hour in advance. There are 20 places filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
