Presentation of seven groups that developed their work at the CCVM, in 2019, takes place this Saturday (07), at 6 pm. The seven street dance groups, selected by the public notice DANÇA AQUI, were residents of the Vale Maranhão Cultural Center throughout the year and developed the works that will be presented to the public at the MOSTRA DANÇA AQUI, which will take place this Saturday from 6 pm, inside the KEBRADA festival schedule. The groups Krump Up SLZ, Revolution of the Streets, Plano B Crew, Os Menor do Funk, LionHearted Fam, Crushes and Juçara Squad, in addition to rehearsals, participated in workshops with reference dance professionals and had image and costume consultancy with Cazzu Br. The project was coordinated by the dancer Calu Zabel, invited by the CCVM. Seven workshops were held, chosen by the participating groups and open to the public. The workshops were amazing, benefited a lot of people and we have great expectations regarding what they will show. We hope that each group is coming out of this experience strengthened”, comments Paula Porta, creator of the project and curator of CCVM. The project's coordinator, Carlos Zabel, highlights that the groups that participated in DANÇA AQUI reveal different ways of thinking and creating dance, showing the diversity that exists in street dances and in the hip hop movement. “Some of the choreographies created gain even more contours with references to popular dances, African dances, theater etc. In the presentations, each group will tell their story through the movement. They are a sample of the power that this process was, which provided, above all, the encounter, the presence and the development of subjectivities, elements of great importance in dance”. Sâmia Rodrigues, a member of the group Krump Up SLZ, recently started dancing and the project came as an incentive to continue as a dancer. “The movement of urban dances is very involving and can change the lives of many young dancers who fight with great vigor to be recognized and make a living from it.
