Grupo de Caixeiras do Divino de Alcântara arrive in São Luís for a special presentation at the CCVM this Thursday (19)

As part of the CCVM’s March program, the group from Caixeiras do Divino Espírito Santo de Alcântara (MA) will present the show “Toque de Caixa: Divine Ancestrality Alcantarense” next Thursday (19).

The cashiers are women who, during the Feast of the Divine Holy Spirit, are responsible for the songs and drums sung in prayer. The festivities, celebrated annually in the month of May, have a unique strength in Maranhão, with the city of Alcântara as a major highlight.

The presentation, prepared especially for the Open Courtyard, will symbolically highlight the main moments of the celebration of the Divine Holy Spirit, represented in their box rings, with the cashiers as true guardians of this long tradition.
