Taught by the artist Wal Paixão, the “Essential Engraving” workshop offers a theoretical and practical immersion in this traditional language. Aimed at beginners, the activity combines moments of historical contextualization and demonstrations of the main techniques, tools, and materials, stimulating the individual production of artistic works using alternative styrofoam matrices. At the end of the tour, participants will be able to share their productions on an exhibition clothesline.
Wal Paixão has a master’s degree in Design (UFMA) and has been working with art for 12 years out of concern for the soul. Wal seeks to illustrate his homeland based on the references of the culture of Maranhão, with an authorial work that prints t-shirts, books, packaging and, especially, woodcuts and linoleographs.
The “Essential Engraving” workshop is part of the Vale Maranhão Cultural Center Training Program, in the Free Workshops category. The initiative brings together training meetings aimed at initiation and training in different artistic techniques and languages, with diverse themes and proposals that stimulate critical and sensitive training.
Registrations are free and must be made in person at the CCVM reception on the first day of the workshop (01/9), starting at 14:30pm, 30 minutes before the start of the activities. Arrive early!
