The Vale Maranhão Cultural Center begins its São João programming receiving the São Benedito de Mato Grosso Crioula Drum. Coming from the municipality of Morros, the group has 45 players and over 70 years of tradition in the Munim region.
With different characteristics from the drums of the capital, the São Benedito do Mato Grosso Crioula drum has lambs among the players, a specific cadence in the beat of the drum and an aboiado song, highlighting the cultural diversity that exists in Maranhão.
The presentation will take place this Thursday, 2, at 19:00, as part of the Pátio Aberto program. The CCVM is located at Av. Henrique Leal or Rua Direita, 149, in the Historic Center of São Luís. Admission is free.
