On Wednesday, the 31st, the Mobi event will take place: a look at the collection at 18:00 at the Vale Maranhão Cultural Center – CCVM. The open conversation will bring together professionals Carlos Eduardo Cordeiro and Adson Carvalho, with the mediation of Professor Jane Maciel, to share the experience of working with the photographer Mobi’s archive, under the custody of the IFMA since 2011. During the conversation, the processes of conservation, cleaning, restoration of images and the importance of Mobi’s photographic approach to the imaginary of the city of São Luís will be discussed.
The event was conceived based on the exhibition Renunciar/Mobi, curated by Gabriel Gutierrez, which will be on display at the CCVM until June 3. The exhibition includes a set of 300 images by the photographer from Maranhão, portraying the daily life of the city of São Luís, from the 70s to the 2000s. Its collection, with about 5 thousand photographs, is a repository of Ludovicense social and cultural memories, with an emphasis on popular daily life.
The event is produced by the Image Research and Production Center (NUPPI), a group of researchers working in the areas of academic education, research projects and production in image, media and art, in collaboration with the CCVM. The conversation is free, and prior registration is required through the link below.
