Ancient doctrines from Terreiro São Jorge Tumajamacê in the Open Courtyard this Thursday

28 March 2024 to 19:00

Doctrines are the prayers sung in African-based yards. They have melodies and lyrics that convey strength, mystery, faith and reflect people’s feelings. In “Songs that Cross Time”, the Tumajamacê Collective visits ancient doctrines from the Maracanã region, rural São Luís.

Formed by the sons of Saint of Terreiro São Jorge Tumajamacê, the collective is committed to social and cultural projects aimed at the community in which it operates, with the objective of combating racism and religious intolerance. An exaltation to popular terreiro culture at this week’s Open Patio!
