About

Centro Cultural Vale Maranhão (Vale Maranhão Cultural Center) is a dynamic, diverse and open cultural center providing a space for artists, cultural producers and visitors to dialogue and practice their art. The center’s main goal is to increase access to cultural assets, affording an environment for discussing, creating and studying art in a way that is diverse and open to everyone. Freedom of expression is our core objective, as we understand that culture and education are the basis for creative experiences.

We create our programs to cater to the public, committed to offering quality content in a wide range of creative mediums, contributing to the formation of critical thought and knowledge. Exhibits, concerts, popular regional cultural presentations, theater performances, dance performances, courses, workshops, cinema screenings and festivals are all developed to provide an enriching experience for our visitors.

CCVM also understands and recognizes the cultural richness of Maranhão and works to amplify the local culture, placing Maranhão among the most important cultural centers in the country with a focus on popular regional culture and its relation to society. The center also welcomes professionals from other countries and states, creating an environment for cultural exchange and sharing the culture of Maranhão with a wider audience while contributing to local growth.

Centro Cultural Vale Maranhão is supported by Instituto Cultural Vale through the Federal Law for Cultural Incentive. It is located in the historical center of São Luís. Alongside other cultural organizations, CCVM contributes to making the city more dynamic and strengthening the cultural aspect of its surroundings.
